VISITORS!!

It's been almost 2 full years since this boy has been home to see his Momma. She couldn't stand it and decided it was high time to fly across the country and pay him a visit. Our visitors have been few and far in between. . .and always much appreciated.

Fortunately for us, she needed a traveling buddy and brought Brent's sister Teresa along. We owe a lot to these two people. Without them our stay here in Buffalo might never have been possible. Mama Jo loaned us the money for our house, and Teresa and her husband Bret run our farm out west.
I had grand plans for touring the countryside but our visitors were pretty content to just hang out close to home. We worked hard to convince them that they couldn't go home without visiting our beautiful falls nearby. We like to go the falls in the evening. The pictures turn out real nice and the parking is free after 8. Kennon stayed home to put Marcus to bed. She would prefer that to riding in the trunk of the van, I guess.
The first day we heard some commotion a block away and walked over to see the demolition of a neighborhood house from start to finish. It's pretty interesting to see them do this when the homes on each side are only an arm's length away. The town has demolished a handful of homes in our little neighborhood in the last year and are rebuilding nice homes in the lots. This is when you know you are outside the Buffalo line. So much for the Hood, eh?

After about 10 minutes Teresa, the kids, and I had seen plenty. . . but Brent's mom refused to walk away until it was flattened completely. So I found out right away that these guests were going to be easy to entertain.

One day we surprised Brent for lunch and got the grand tour of his dental school.
While there we realized that we had never taken a picture in front of the dental school Buffalo so Teresa took one for us.

Brent worked hard to convince them to take a sail down the Niagara River in his boat. They must read our blog or something because they absolutely refused.

They weren't completely unadventurous however. Teresa went up to the tippy tops of the tree house her brother built with Caroline and Camille.
(I had to zoom up so you could see them. If I wouldn't they would just be tiny dots)

Then Brent decided it was time to take Marcus up to see the house in the trees that he has desperately tried to reach several times before he is yanked off the ladder. We found out that he is just the right size to squeeze between the cracks. Don't worry, though. He will not be up again. Thanks so much for coming! We love you!
Brent's mom exchanged promises with him before she left. First he had to promise that he would drive safely around Buffalo and back to Washington this summer. Then out of the blue she said she promised to send him some Rogaine and said she was so sorry she hadn't done it earlier.
