The P word

After church today Brent and I cooked up a mexican fiesta for four elders and Linda, my visiting teachee. We were busy in the kitchen cooking up some homemade tortillas and I had just passed through the living room when I heard one of the elders use a shocking phrase, "I just got __________ on! " I mean, considering there were kids running all around him, I couldn't understand the sudden outburst of profanity. I came back into the kitchen, saying, "Linda, did you hear what elder Cox said?" I, still totally clueless as to what actually had occurred, finnally figured it out when Caroline sauntered into the kitchen dripping saying, "I peed" (a slightly less offensive p word.)

He was completely drenched along with our couch! The other elders all snapped pictures and couldn't stop laughing but I was horrified. I think I was more worried about my couch! then his drenched pants. We sent him home wearing Brent's dress pants and underwear, and carrying $5 bucks and a plastic bag. Luckily I cooked an awesome dinner that I am sure completely made up for being p __ 'd on. Really though, if missionaries just followed mission rules ( No holding babies!) the whole episode could've been avoided.

Brent's two cents

I see that there has been some blog tampering going on.
Brent, you were just instructed to add pictures! I gave you no other creative license.
Plus, the blog's color is much more masculine now, instead of lady's choice Pink.

I could change it back you know. I know this is supposed to be a family blog, but somehow I felt like it was mine! At least there is italitization to clarify your additions rather than just mascarading as your wife. But I am so thankful for the help with the photos, that this is all I'm gonna say.

Help! We need a new name for our blog. Baby boy coming in March!

One big blah, blah, blah blog!

How many times have I been told to update my blog now? I really have some bored friends if they are looking to this site to provide some excitement!
I actually completely forget that I was a onetime beginning blogger (a very short life) last spring and then gave it up because of the whole technology thing. Writing and blabbing about my life is my speciality so really it is only because of my lack of equipment or brain power to run the equipment that I have let this settle into the past hoping to be forgotten. But since I continue to have some snoopy, but very nice friends, checking in on me I figured I would surprise them all with a post.

Whenever I neglect journal writing for too long, I organize it in this fashion to expediate the rundown process. So here goes:

JUNE:
Brent and Kashann concieve a baby Boy due March 8!
Can you believe Kashann's first news is about when a baby was made?--
(Brent's comments in italics as he uploads the photos.)

Buffalo's newest handyman
Brent and Dave Lindman agree to paint a fellow dental student house for some fast cash. He's got a little extra, we need a lot extra, so Brent readily agrees. The project continues throughout the summer and even with the wives, pitching in to hasten the completion, the job continues to hang over us still in November. I am pretty sick of the trailer that has been a permanent fixture in our front driveway for the many ladder trips to Hershey's for a two hour break that Brent finds in his busy dental school schedule. Besides this Brent works on another students house painting and tiling. He is now known as the ward handyman and has way more work opportunities than time on his hands. He takes some time off from his many remodeling contracts to fulfill one he made with the kids last summer. At the end of June he has started building the promised Tree House!
JULY
Tree house-
By the 4th holiday Brent has put in enough hours in the tree to have the beginning of a landing about 25 feet up to view the fireworks at the park near our house. Him and some brave friends and their sons join him that night while the rest of our friends hang out down below on the front lawn. I take one trip up top, climbing the rickety ladder, and after that refuse to let any of my children go up there again, and until it is finished and safety precautions are met. Little did I know that the rope hanging off the bottom was the biggest hit. If I had known how much time the kids would spend hanging from that rope and how little time they would actually spend in the treehouse, I would have just tied four of them onto a branch and called it good.

Buick Motel
The tree house is put on hold in mid-July, cuz we are off to Washington, by way of Nauvoo, Illonois, Kirtland OH, Mt. Rushmore, and every rest stop and most of the gas stations along the way. We manage a wonderful 5 day vacation crossing the plains with our family of 6 in a Double Decker Buick with 260 K miles. Better known to the kids as the Buick Motel since they hardly ever were allowed out of it for more than a couple hours. Duly named, Double Decker because Brent had the brainstorm to bring along 5 boards for the bunk beds he installed each night in the backseat, and his climbing ropes that functioned as homemade seatbelts for those sleeping up top.
He was so proud of his invention, and continued to set it up almost every night even after a collapse one night. The whole bed complete with two kids came down on top of him not long after he pulled over to climb beneath it to "stretch out for a couple hours". With the front seats all they way back, he was trapped, and had no way to get out without help. At the time I had left my bed in the front seat to visit the ladies room. By the time I got back I had one very frusterated Brent pinned in the backseat. He threw the broken particle board out at the rest stop and was determined to get another good board for the next night. Of the 6 nights we spent on the road we got a hotel twice. The other four we made the best of it in our Double Decker. Setting up beds in a car might seem like a pain but moving 5 girls into a motel room, swimming with them, stopping them from jumping from one bed to the next, getting them calmed down and asleep, monitoring their continental breakfast blowups, cleaning up after them, and then packing them and all of their stuff back in the car is no walk in the park either.

Savannah's baptism

Savannah was baptized in Washington and enjoyed the occasion to be surrounded by so much of our extended family. After the baptism we had a Casper/Fielding swimming party and barbecue.

The most eventful thing of the evening besides the wonderful baptism was the prank perpetrated by Brent and his brother Ben on me. With all the barbecue preparations, I delegated one responsiblity to Brent- The baptism program. I had it all typed up he just needed to run to his brother's house and color copy her photo and illustration on the front and back.

After being gone all day he comes home with a completely destroyed program -her face stretched out, large bubble letters spelling SAAAVANNAH on the front, and her rainbow drawing copied upside down on the back. I was livid, but tried my best not to completely chew him out. As the evening began I was presented with a wonderful program and realized that the joke was on me. I should've know since last year, Ben tried to trick us and had a mustache drawn on Kennon's face on the cover of her program.

Grandpa Pat Fielding's 80th Birthday Celebration
Grandpa smashed off three fingers the day before we all showed up while building fences at his ranch, He went around smiling the whole time with a large bandage that looked like a boxing glove on his hand. He was the life of the party and refused to let anyone make a fuss over his gory ordeal the day before.

AUGUST
Back to New York after an exhausting 40 hour drive straight through, we unload and find that we had a stowaway along for the entire ride. Two days later we catch a Washington farm mouse in the trunk and all of a sudden sleeping in the car has a whole new revolting aspect to it. The mouse was pretty content along the way as he had plenty of crumbs to eat under Carolines carseat and a comfy bed he chewed himself in the leather under Camiles carseat.

2nd year Dental School begins
Brent is immediately overwhelmed and pulls out of the family circle suddenly as we stop seeing him except on Sundays or in the middle of the night. Then he has the audacity to join the Stake Play Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat as the brother Gad. Kashann really encouraged the involvement. I think she wanted to relive her glory days as the star of "Fame" in her high school musical. She really wanted to paricipate but didn't make the tryouts. He relishes in this unique opportunity to take a break from the rigors of dental school to sing and dance with his new wife the very beautiful redhead Kristen, (the real wife of classmate Aaron Hassel).

September
Play Practice !! The kids join too and I drive them back and forth from the stake center and watch Brent enjoy himself several times a week. Brent rides his moped excusively now since he has worked on it and has it running over 40 mph.

Camille, the Kindergartener
Camille joins her other two sisters at Holmes Elementary. Kennon is now inducted into the gifted and talented (G.T) program with Savannah and also joins the orchestra on violin. Savannah starts piano lessons with a dental student wife, Brita Benion, and Kennon continues progressing with her teacher, Krystal King. I am starting to hear less and less swearing "I hate piano" out of her as she gets better and better.
3 year old Caroline IS POTTY TRAINED! No more accidents! -Better late than never!

October
Still great weather in Buffalo, and this time we make it through the month without any record snowfalls! On Oct. 18, at 20 weeks gestation I visit a doctor for the first time and get to see an acutal boy inside my womb. We are really completely shocked at this accomplishment. Brent is finally glad that I talked him into the whole thing. Whatever.

Go, Go, Go Joseph!
Brent and the Buffalo Stake perform the musical, and it surprisingly all comes together in the end. Brent came about an inch within quitting the week before he was so frusterated that he wasn't allowed to direct a few scenes that he had a "vision" for. Someday we want to direct our own play. We just have so many good ideas!

Halloween
Savannah refuses to dress up in the sweet things she used to go along with in the past. She attends two parties, one in which she is a vampire princess, and the other she goes as little Dead Riding Hood. Camille dresses up as a 50's girl, Kennon a beautiful sweet Snow White, and Caroline, a scarey little witch that just wouldn't stop rubbing her face until her perfect little makeup was completely destroyed before we even left the house!

Now for the nagging!
I am going to pester and pester Brent till he helps me get pictures of all these great adventures loaded on here.
Now I can't wait for my first comment from all you blog enthusiasts out there.
