Tuesday morning just before school I sent Savannah to the basement to remove the VCR. All MLK day we didn't even see Marcus because he was in the basement playing movie after movie. So I was putting a stop to his movie access/addiction. Savannah came back up in 10 seconds and told me, "Mom you won't have to worry about Marcus and the VCR today. There is a flood in the basement." We all ran down to see our basement under water. Well only an inch or two but it was still a horrific sight. It's a finished basement. Well it was. Now it is all torn apart. I spent the entire day with a shopvac sucking out the water while Brent was off at the office. I hauled out over 100 full loads of water. And Calvin didn't sleep all day. It was not a good day for either of us. Brent came home to an almost dry basement and then mentioned that we probably should've called our insurance company. So we made a call and found out that I had wasted my whole day as cleanup and replacement are fully covered. They would pay me for my time if I kept track of my hours though. So I had one long horrible day that was completely unnecessary but it's over now and I guess we are getting a new basement. The leak was in the sauna. One of our heating pipes burst over the weekend I guess thanks to the negative temperatures we dipped down too.
Kennon has been saying since we moved in that we needed to remodel the basement. I told her it was last on my list. The flood made it top priority. And at least for a change someone else will be doing the work so it will actually get down. Not that I am complaining about my husband or anything.
We all got some new jammies new year's eve. Calvin went to bed early in his and missed the party.
We did our first ever White Elephant exchange. I think they call it a Yankee Swap around here. Christmas eve we decided to head into the church gym and play basketball. Brent has been trying to improve Kennon's skills after she made it on the basketball team. We were there for hours and I think it may become a tradition. Then we stopped at the Dollar store and everyone snuck around the store picking out a secret gift to exchange. Savannah wrapped this one that Kennon ended up with.
Camille is also playing Basketball for the first time, so she wore her jersey to show off her skills.
Kennon can't decide if she likes her Daddy teaching her Tuff D or not. He runs by her constantly headed to basket hollering out, "Burned Ya". We all got tired of his glorying over tearing up his 13 year old daughter on the court.
Christmas Eve is always my favorite and this year really was the best ever. The kids actually all acted like they liked each other and that made all the difference.
Here's Calvin on his very first birthday. One month old on Christmas Day.
I am not blowing this up because I think I am fat enough in the smaller version. I actually look like I am still waiting to have Calvin here but obviously he is already out, huh? Brent got pretty fired up at this event. We both did several TV/MAG/Radio interviews. No idea where they all ended up though. Hopefully not too many TV ones because seriously that shirt is not flattering. I am going to have to find a redeeming photo right away.
Couldn't resist the Ron Paul shot though. If you only know what others say about him you are missing out. Go to the source and hear what he has to say. The debates never to do him any justice. You have to actually hear him speak more than in 30 seconds clips to know why we support him. We loved the NH primary season.
Marcus and Brent got in a fight over Ron Paul and Mitt Romney signs after Marcus and I brought a Romney sign home from a meeting. It was when my mom was in town and she of course wanted to see Mitt. We also got to see John Mcain and were once again interviewed a ton. Mom thought it was pretty exciting. She doesn't understand how us New Hampshirites get kind of used to this excitement.
Marcus has always said, "I am voting for Mitt Romney" since May when he met him at a BBQ. So Grandma and Marcus went out and posted the new Romney sign in front of Ron Paul and that didn't make Marcus's Dad too happy when he came home that night.
So they had a serious discussion of the issues and in the end Marcus said, "Okay, I'll vote for Ron Paul." I didn't hear the conversation but the next day when I quizzed him down about his change of heart he said, "I am voting for Ron Paul because Romney is going to take my money away".
Like I said a serious discussion on the issues. Ron Paul pledges to lower the income tax rate to Zero and Romney would be taking at least 25% of what Marcus is trying to save in his piggy pank.

The Christmas Eve PJS photo was "redeeming," Kashann. I actually thought, "I can't believe how skinny she is!" You look amazing!
Fun update, as usual.
You don't ever look fat!!!!! I don't think that's possible! You're wonderwoman!
